Best workout headphones in 2021: Apple, Beats, Sony, Bose and more compared
After trying out plenty of wireless sports headphones and earbuds over the years, I’ve found that some models are better suited for workouts than others. Needless to say, the best workout headphones or earbuds should be wireless — and ideally, true-wireless earbuds — so there’s no cable to restrict your movement in any way. And they should fit your ears securely and comfortably, whether they’re earbuds or standard on-ear or over-ear headphones.
Sound quality is obviously an important factor and so, too, is durability, with good sweat resistance a must. Finally, for noise-isolating earbuds, it’s good to have some sort of transparency mode that allows sound in so you can hear the world around you for safety reasons.
I’ve included all kinds of headphones on this list, including sport buds with wing tips or ear hooks, open buds like the AirPods 3rd Generation and bone-conduction headphones that leave your ears uncovered.
