Biden issues statement on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia


On June 26, 2015, the White House was lit with the colors of the rainbow in celebration of the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage. President Joe Biden has issued a statement for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. May 17, 1990 was when the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder.

The President specifically told the community that “my administration sees you” and that they “stand with you” as the community faces ongoing attacks from Republican politicians and far-right activists in the American political arena while still facing the ongoing day-to-day struggles unique to our community worldwide.

“We join with Americans across the country to reaffirm our commitment to the ongoing work of upholding human dignity for all people and advancing equality globally,” the statement reads.
