Dallas high schoolers question gubernatorial candidates on immigration, economy and more

While the club was focused on exploring policy points, its leaders wanted to do something with a broader scope that might engage coming-of-age voters to take action and head to the ballot.
“I feel like it’s really important in our society, especially as youth since we’re the upcoming generation,” Thompson said.
On Tuesday, that brainstorming came to fruition.
With the help of fellow voter empowerment clubs, the student-led, nonpartisan group held a gubernatorial forum in Skyline’s auditorium, featuring two of the candidates on November’s ballot: Libertarian Mark Tippetts and Democrat Beto O’Rourke.
