Pathways to postsecondary education will strengthen Florida’s economy | Guestview

As a business leader, I’m always thinking about how to improve Florida’s workforce. Our statewide economy relies on a strong and robust workforce, made up of employees who are prepared and productive. I’ve experienced first-hand the problems that result when we aren’t supporting our fellow workers as we should, or how businesses suffer when we don’t have the pool of workers with the credentials we need to succeed. To create and maintain such employees, we need to make sure they have the support they need to flourish professionally. One crucial tool in this effort is postsecondary education.

Postsecondary programs have shown promise as a strategy for helping Florida achieve its economic goals. In recent years, over 80 percent of students who concentrated in career and technical education in high school have gone on to postsecondary education, advanced training, or employment within six months of graduating from high school.
